Miguel Soeiro is an independent designer based in Lisbon, Portugal.
His work is defined by a focus on simplicity, functionality and a thoughtful approach to materials, often challenging conventional ways of making and using everyday objects.
Traditional materials and manufacturing processes are frequently the starting point for his work, which he reinterprets through a contemporary and informal perspective, creating objects intended to remain relevant over time.
Throughout his career, Miguel has collaborated with independent craftspeople and established manufacturers in Portugal and internationally, working across furniture, industrial and transportation design.
More recently, his practice has expanded into the maritime sector, where he is responsible for the design of a new fleet of tourist catamarans, comprising five boats across three different typologies.
His work has been featured in design publications worldwide and presented at leading international design events. He has also curated an exhibition of Portuguese design at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, contributing to the international visibility of contemporary Portuguese design.
His projects have received several distinctions, including the iF Design Award, Good Design Award and Red Dot Design Award.
Alongside his professional practice, Miguel is an Assistant Professor at IADE, Universidade Europeia, in Lisbon, and regularly engages in international design education, having led workshops at Istanbul Beykent University in Turkey and at the Estonian Academy of Arts, EKA, in Tallinn, Estonia.
