Pedrita is a design studio founded in Lisbon in 2005 by Pedro Ferreira and Rita João. Over the past two decades, its practice has spanned object design, exhibition design, interiors and artistic tilework, in collaboration with a range of creative organisations, brands and clients.
The studio’s work stems from a close observation of material culture, forms, structures and production processes, whether traditional or industrial, reinterpreted through a distinct, understated and precise design vocabulary. An everyday object, an age-old technique, a construction system: this is often where the design process begins, before any decorative considerations.
This same approach gave rise to the Tension lamp and the Any rugs, two designs in the Porventura collection whose creation was guided, respectively, by the structures of high-voltage power networks and the logic of colour combinations.
